One Eye, One Hope in Africa: Our Cataract Surgeries Continue in 2025

Eyes Are Closing, Hopes Are Not Fading
Cataracts are common in many parts of Africa—especially Somalia. Due to intense sunlight, malnutrition, and lack of access to healthcare, cataracts can lead to blindness even at a young age.
Many people never see a doctor in their lifetime. However, cataracts are a disease that can be easily treated with early intervention. However, the scarcity of specialists and financial constraints make this treatment inaccessible.
10 Million People Have Vision Problems
More than 10 million people across Africa have vision problems.
At least 5 million of these people are blind due to cataracts alone.
Approximately 600,000 new cases are added to this number each year. But ending this darkness is just one surgery away.
Light a Life with 4,500 TL
As Yedi Başak Association, we offer free surgery to individuals who have lost their sight due to cataracts. The cost of a cataract surgery is just 4,500 TL. With this donation, a person can see again; they can see their loved ones, their children, and their lives again.
